The "Burg" was founded by the Panther family in Iowa City in 1948 and the Hawkeyes travel from coast to coast to visit us. Hamburg Inn No. 2, one of Iowa's most famous restaurants, was featured in the Washington Post's "Great American Hamburger Debate," National Public Radio's program "All Things Considered," and Susan Stramburg's "Ever Night at Five." It was a film location for Duck's Breath's movie "Zadar, Cow From Hell." The Quad City Times states "It's a piece of Americana."

According to Jane and Michael Stern's coast-to-coast restaurant guide, Road Food and Good Food. "The pieces de resistance were American fried potatoes, big chunky spuds heaped on the grill and fried until crusty. Delicious!" They also stated, "Egg afficionados can wallow in a repretoire of sixty omelettes." Iowa's fifties time capsule of good eating was also featured as a Midwest stop for the pork tenderloin in the restaurant guide.

Welcome to the Hamburg Inn!. Our menu is loaded with good food suggestions and we will be glad to mix them the way you want them, from a double bacon cheeseburger with pepper cheese to a mozzarella black olive ham omelette.
